Do you recall the cartoon the Flintstones? I love the episode about automotive auctions. The car they are bidding on is a gangster car involved in a bank robbery. They do not know a gangster sent one of his henchmen to bid the car and win it and bring it to their hideout. Fred is warned by the minion not to bid on it. Fred takes this as a challenge. Fred wins the bid because the henchman is eating a peanut butter sandwich and his mouth sticks and cannot open his mouth to outbid Fred.

The gangster’s minion tries to out bid Fred for the car at the auction. But he is eating peanut butter and his mouth sticks shut and he cannot bid. Fred and Barney win the bid and race off with the bank robbery car.

The gangster finds out where Fred lives from the automotive auction people. Fred and Barney in the meantime are driving around town in this big gangster car. They take it home where their wives are excited and send the boys to the market for groceries to have a party to celebrate their new ride.

The gangster’s henchmen have caught up with Fred and Barney at his house. They follow the boys as they leave for the market. They start firing their guns at Fred and Barney. They have prehistoric guns. A sling shot with a trigger and barrel made of wood. The guns launch rocks with deadly force, not so much accuracy though.

Fred and Barney are bombarded with rocks fired from the sling shot guns. We are led to believe that if they get hit by one of the rocks it is like getting hit by a bullet. And who wants to be hit by a rock anyway? The boys are racing to stay ahead of them. They see a large mansion on a hill ahead on the road. They race for it.

This happens to be the gangsters hide out and Fred and Barney drive right into it. They are captured and asked where the loot is. Fred and Barney have no idea what they are talking about. They try to convince the gangsters they went to the automotive auction simply looking for a good deal on a car. The gangster believes the boys knew about the money in the trunk. The gangsters find the loot and finally believe Fred and Barney.

But they still have to do them in because they know too much. He prepares his gun. But suddenly the cops break in. The cops had the car under surveillance the whole time. They knew the gangster would try to buy the car from the auction and had the plan to use the car to capture him.

The boys are heroes. They get a small reward, but not the car. Now you will not have such an adventure when you go to automotive auctions but you will get a good car and a good price. There are many automotive auctions in your area. Some are government auctions where you will find deals on vehicles used by government agencies like police departments. And there are bank automotive auctions where they sell cars that were repossessed. And car rental agencies auction off cars that reach a certain mileage.
