It is impossible to succeed in any home improvement project without a set of home improvement tools. When it comes to working inside and outside the house a large number of tools for repairing things, constructing and redecorating is needed.
Different home improvement tasks require specific tools and equipment. Certain sets of tools are developed for walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, electrical work and others. Getting acquainted with all these kinds of home improvement tasks is really important. If you feel comfortable about using different tools, you will be able to save money on hiring professional workers when anything needs to be done at your house.
The basic home improvement tools that are required for the majority of tasks include measuring tools, hammers, carpentry tools, drill, saw, screwdrivers and planes.
If your profession has nothing to do with fixing and woodworking, you will not need to have all possible tools in your tool box. A working bench is probably the most important thing you should have from carpentry tools. A simple tape measure is enough for most of home improvement tasks. However, some projects will go smoother if you get a combination square as well.
An electric drill is irreplaceable in drilling holes, sanding surfaces, driving screws etc. You could use your drill even to stir paint for coloring walls. Drills are either corded or cordless. Both of the types are great. Cordless drills offer possibilities to work outside or in hard to reach places. Make sure you also get drill bolts that suit you home improvement needs.
Hammers, screwdrivers and a handsaw is also something you could not go without. These tools are usually rather cheap. And you will not have to learn how to use them – they are very easy to use without any instructions. Hammers are available in different sizes. Yu should pick the ones that better suit your needs. And you should also make sure you are able to lift them easily. Screwdrivers could be found of different types. It is better to get a set of them that includes several various screwdrivers. This ensures that you will always have the type that you currently need. The most common types are Phillips and flat headed screwdrivers. Make sure you keep the blades of your saw sharp. Do not store it in a place with high humidity level. It is also recommended that you cover the blades with something or keep your saw aside from other tools to avoid injuries.
Speaking about safety, all the tools should be kept in a dry place out of the reach of children. It is recommended to keep them in a lockable box and not to leave the tools outside, especially over the night.
