Consider an indoor house plant if you are looking for different ways to enhance the ambience of a room. Plants being a sense of life to a room, enhancing the color and texture. They can be very versatile, are inexpensive and can be placed anywhere in your home for best effect.

With an indoor house plant, its best to select varieties that are easy to maintain and can thrive with little care in the lighting provided in a particular room. Some types to consider are English ivy, spider plant, shamrocks and philodendrons.

Before you make your final decision regarding the location for your indoor house plant, consider some basic interior design rules. Size, color, shape, texture need to fit in with the room’s style, as is the case with any accessory. Make sure that the plant’s container complements the room’s design as well as the plant.

Many people put an indoor house plant in an empty space. This is the wrong approach — you should be sure that the plant is appropriate for the space and follows all the rules regarding function, theme, scale, focal point and form.

Plants can be functional as well as beautiful. Plants also convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, so they are a great air purifier. According to feng shui principles, some plants create overall harmony, among the Plum Blossoms, Impala Lily, Chili plants and Dracaena, also known as the Money plant.
