An Energy Auditor is a position that requires a degree as well as experience. Most companies will require some level of experience in addition to a formal education. To acquire the hands on experience the auditor will generally work under a certified auditor. Almost like an apprenticeship, but not exactly.
Sometimes the additional training may be less or more and is determined by the needs of the particular auditor. They may need very little practical training as some schools are offering work study programs in which the auditor works alongside a certified auditor during the time he is getting the formal education.
The duties of an energy auditor are many. From checking heaters and air conditioners, to ducts, thermostats, and filters, and the list does not end there. There is also the windows, weather stripping, and insulation. Also, the water heater, and shower heads, plus the appliances.
The importance of having your energy levels audited is as important as you taking your money and throwing it out of the window. That is basically what is occurring when there are leaks or appliances that are not working properly within your home or business. The auditor will evaluate each and every room.
A professional visit from an auditor takes some time to complete. They will go from room to room, evaluating many things, and generally will request to view your last year’s energy bills. To make your visit more beneficial you should prepare a list of problems that you are aware of. This will help point the auditor in the right direction.
What an Energy Auditor does is to help your home run smoothly and efficiently. They keep your utility costs from spiraling out of control, by making sure that your home is energy efficient. This means checking every nook and cranny of your home to ensure that all appliances are working correctly, and no energy is being lost by other routes.
Start a job as an energy auditor. Something that will not only earn you money, but help out others too.
