Dream Homes: How To Build Your Own

Although most of the people live in apartments that they can afford, they don’t stop dreaming of building the residence of their dreams. Some of them achieve this goal and feel fulfilled for their whole life.

Even if you don’t have experience with constructions, you can do it, provided that you are a good organizer and that you have some project management and planning skills. You’ll need to make your teams work together for the final purpose, your house.

Make sure that you put all your plans on paper from the very beginning, taking into consideration the inactivity periods due to bad weather months, the delays that may occur from suppliers, and some eventual mistakes your team may make and need to repair.

When budgeting, you need to allow an amount for the building site organization: sleeping containers for the team of builders, toilets and showers, office modules, other accessories.

If you don’t provide lodging at the building site, you’ll have to be prepared to pay for an apartment rental, in case the working team is not from that city. In this case, you’ll have to pay at least one person to guard the construction site during the night, if you don’t want to donate your materials to thieves.

Builders who opt for modular container homes for their workers can recover a part of these costs by selling the used containers when no longer needed. They can even buy them used from the very beginning.

As each country has its own laws and rules, discuss with somebody who knows them and find out what authorizations you need prior to starting your building. This would save you from paying big fines later on in the process.
