Kicking back with a glass of wine at the end of a hard day is lots of peoples idea of heaven. The fun though soon ends when you have to get round to cleaning them and getting them looking spotless again. If you want to ruin your glasses after a few uses then stick them in the dishwasher, but if you want to preserve their quality, what are your top choices?

By hand. You could always choose to wash your wine glass by hand in some warm soapy water. This method does technically get the glasses clean but leaves all sorts of unsightly marks and smudges on them, and there is an argument the soap can ruin the taste of the next wine that gets put in the glass. Also, if you leave them to drip dry you can end up with a buildup of scum around the lip.

Glass cloth. These little things really are amazing and do not cost all that much either. They are very gentle on glassware due to their microfibre make-up, and yet they clean very effectively. Best of all they do not leave behind fluff or lint that is very common with standard cloths. They can also be used on all glasses and dinnerware, and when they get dirty themselves you can stick them in the washing machine and they’ll come out brand new.

Metal cleaning balls. For wine enthusiasts who like the latest innovations, there is always the option of the amazing cleaning metal ball bearings. Because the balls are constructed from stainless steel they will never rust and will last you a lifetime. Stick them in your glass with a couple of spoonfuls of water and then swirl them around for thirty seconds. They will pick up the dirt from any hard to reach places and leave you glasses sparkling. You can then rinse the balls off with water and they are good to go again.
