There’s always that one day we vividly remember when we walk into our kitchen and say, “Ick. I can’t stand this any more.” It could be outdated, it could be dark and dingy, or it could be too cramped and small for a growing family. For whatever reasons, kitchens can be easily and affordably upgraded and redecorated with spending a fortune on a general contractor.
Of course, these projects are easy and welcome for anyone who loves do it yourself jobs around the house. Many of us, however, wait until the last minute when it becomes a necessity rather than a joy.
If new cabinets are on your list but not in your budget, don’t despair . You can either buy new cabinet facings (doors and hardware). Of course, in a large kitchen even this could run into thousands of dollars, so if that’s still a stretch, paint them! Wash them first with a gentle cleaner that works on whatever they are made of. You might need with a gentle wood cleaner or a heavy kitchen cleaner for laminate.

Old appliances can be a killer, too. Sometimes just replacing the stove and fridge with bright shiny new models is all you might need to bring your kitchen from 1980 to 2009. At least it’s a start. You can perform miracles for less than $1,000 when it comes to new appliances.
