Most of the times you’ll use cool colors when designing around the rest of the room where others spend time but the bedroom is the one place in the house you can be bold and try to make it more dark and passionate. Start by choosing the color scheme which you want to place in your bedrooms design. You either can choose red which is the most romantic color out there or a neutral color. If you choose neutral then try accenting with the red tones to give it that romantic feel as well as warmth. Just make sure you are aware of the red before you place it on the walls. Bedding is the one area you’ll spend a pretty penny on but it will be worth it. Since the bed is where most of the time is spent when you’re in your bedroom you’ll want it to be soft and comfortable. Splurge on a great bed set even if it is over the budget you’d normally spend. Spending more for a great bed set will last longer and you’ll get your monies worth. If you want to try something different go for silk. It is a wonderful texture especially for the new romantic room you are creating.

Get a painting or two to make your walls more interesting. As the bed will most probably be the central piece in the room, it’s a good idea to hang the artworks above the headboard where they can be easily seen. Abstracts and florals are a good idea because they’ll work with almost any theme or concept.

You want to make sure the textures which you have in your design are soft, romantic, and cozy. You don’t want anything which is rough to the touch. This applies to the floor as well. Try choosing a great area rug which is shaggy. If it is large enough try placing it underneath the bed or if you aren’t able to find anything large enough, purchase smaller ones and place one on each side of the bed and one at the foot of the bed. It will just complement the art which is already placed in the room.

Lighting is the final step in creating the romantic space you’ve dreamed of. If you are able to place a dimming switch in the bedroom the design will work perfectly. You’ll be able to adjust the light to what you want at any specific time. Lamps placed on the night stands are another way to dim the light in the room. By placing great lampshades over the lamps you’ll reduce the brightness for that romantic spot!
