Preparation to welcome a newborn baby can be quite an activity for expectant parents. There are so many things to prepare and it seems, so little time to do everything.

That’s why in my case, it was quite a dilemma if I am going to buy a baby crib or just do the job myself.

Its really needed to to apply enough finish on the wood to seal and bind the fibers well. This way, splintering can be avoided.

Most finishes is protective and non toxic when it is fully cured, but you know how parents are. And I’m no exemption. I feel really safe in using shellac as it is used on confectioners coating on candies. Its as non-toxic as it can get.
