During the cooler months of the year some people elect to use small portable space heaters just to give them a little bit of extra heat. This also stops things from turning into a fire hazard. The final feature that I like related to safety is as follows. When an oil filled radiator heater is functioning normally it will have a pleasant warming effect in your home. It should never get so hot on the outside that it becomes too hot to touch. This is not to say that you should go out of your way to touch radiators. But because of the way this type of heating appliance works it will not become dangerously hot on the outer surfaces.

Some people feel this has a negative effect with regards to warming rooms. But on the other hand a feature of these household appliances is that they retain heat for a long time. This means that they hold their heat and continue to warm the area long after they have been switched off. This is good for times like when you go to bed. So when you go to bed it can be reassuring that you do not have to leave a radiator on overnight. But at the same time even though it has been turned off, it will still give you a nice warm glow.
