How To Avoid Compromising When Choosing Mattresses

Mattresses can make such an enormous difference to the way you feel during the day that every effort should be invested in making sure you have the best possible mattress. So much goes on in our sleep, that if we don’t get good quality rest, we end up feeling sleepy and lethargic the following day – not good for driving, and not good for doing well at work. Poor quality mattresses can not only feel uncomfortable but can add to existing problems.

Poor quality mattresses tend to be very bad at absorbing movements, which means that if you sleep with a partner, any movement they make will be passed on to you through the mattress. If they roll over, the bouncing and moving will be echoed through the mattress, causing you to stir slightly and this disruption of your sleep pattern can cause you to feel unexpectedly tired the following day.

Of course, these problems can build up over time, and if not dealt with, or even identified, then it can lead to long term illness and even depression. Poor quality mattresses can result not only in tiredness, but can also be directly attributed to many problems such as back pain. We need to be properly and evenly supported while we sleep, and a poor quality mattress will not achieve this.

One of the major problems associated with poor quality mattresses is that they support the body unevenly. Good quality mattresses support you evenly, without pushing on any particular part of your body. But if you have a poor quality mattress you will start to feel uncomfortable in your sleep, and this is what makes you want to turn over. Every time you turn over, your sleep is disturbed, which is why even support is preferable.

Like so many people I have had back trouble for a long time, and often wake up in discomfort, feeling very stiff. This can take hours to loosen and can really affect my working performance in the morning. I had the benefit of staying at a hotel one night which had a far superior type of mattress, and the difference was incredible. When I woke in the morning I felt looser and more comfortable than I have done for years. When I arrived home one of the first things I did was to replace my old mattress with a new, high quality one.

I can honestly say that having replaced my old, sagging mattress with a high quality, fully supportive mattress my back has felt miles better. Not only that, but over the past few weeks it has been very noticeable that I have more energy.

If you’ve ever woken with a stiff back, or felt lethargic during the day, or simply felt that you weren’t able to get off to sleep properly then, like me, you may have compromised on your mattress. But replacing an old mattress with a new high quality one doesn’t necessarily mean a huge expense. Certainly I wouldn’t recommend that anyone sacrifices their health and comfort for the sake of a cheap mattress. We spend a third of our lives in bed we might as well be comfortable and healthy.

But choosing a high quality mattress doesn’t imply you have to pay huge prices. I bought mine on Cleverclicker.co.uk they have a huge range of top quality mattresses, including memory foam, but at prices that are very hard to beat. With free delivery on offer, the headache of trying to get a mattress into the back of your car can be spared. I had a high quality, fully supportive memory foam mattress delivered free for less than the high street shops charge and that is my idea of a sweet dream.
