Updating Your Roof With Clay Tile Roofing

Roof is the most integral part of the house. It is one of the largest investment for any home owner. The look of the clay tile roof is timeless, but the roofs themselves are not. The roof is not the kind of thing which can be replaced frequently. So it should be installed properly so that it would last a minimum of fifteen years.

Always make sure that you decide the roofing type according to your entire home structure and the climatic conditions of your area. The clay tile roofing does not need much care as its longevity is more as compared to the other classes of roofing.

A clay tile roofing has many advantages, but one of its drawback is that these tile can not be installed by anyone and everyone. So a specialist is required for it. Also while renewing it, you will have to face the same problem.

This clay type roofing needs specific materials which are quite costly as compared to other roofing types. This type of roofing is suitable for the hot climate, where the roof is shielded with clay tiles that prevents the painful heat.

It is a hard task to repair a clay tile roof. But if you have some good tile repairing tools than you can repair it all by yourself. First and foremost clear out the cracked mortar with a cold chisel and hammer. Then clean the cap tiles sensitively. Be sure that you keep the same order.

Next, wet thoroughly the tiles in water for few hours. Then combine the cement and sand in 1:3 ratio and mix them well with water to make a stiff mortar. With a small trowel spread it accordingly where the previous mortar was.

Then replace the tiles and clean up any mortar poking out with a trowel. If there is any major repairs then call a professional roofer to fix the problem.

This type of roofing is environment friendly and can be recycled easily.
