How To Remove A Broken Light Bulb ?

Replacing a broken bulb is quite a risky process and you need to take some safety precautions while doing this. The most important thing required to be done is to cut the power supply of that particular fixture. In case you are repairing a bulb of a lamp then remove the plug of the lamp and in case it is a fixture then cut the power from corresponding electrical panel.

Next put on a pair of protective leather gloves in hands and safety glasses to protect your eyes especially if you are working on an overhead fixture. A hat also helps in keeping any remaining glass off your head. You may also put down a tarp to catch any remaining broken glass from the old bulb if you are removing a broken light bulb from a ceiling or wall light fixture.

One way is to put the pliers as much as possible into the base that is broken using your hands. Separate out the handles and put some force on the bulb base with the help of pliers and turn it in anti-clockwise direction.

With this force the broken base may come out and you need to be careful that you don’t break the fixture during the process. Also, if this process does not work out, use some other alternative. One more is stated below.

Carefully insert a small screwdriver between the bulb base and the socket. Bend the bulb base slightly inward that is enough to allow a needle nose plier to get a grip.

Hold the pliers tightly and begin to turn the base out, counter-clockwise. You could feel some resistance. When you feel the resistance, slightly attempt to rotate it clockwise and then again back counter-clockwise. This twisting would enable the broken light bulb to be unscrewed and removed from the light socket without damaging the socket.

Once the elimination process is complete, check carefully if all the broken pieces are removed or not. After that, fix a new bulb inside the socket and switch on the power to check whether it’s operating fine or not. In case the bulb does not lit then remove the bulb and insert it again.

To prevent the bulbs from breaking in the future, never over tighten them while screwing into the light socket. Screw them just till the point where you feel slight resistance and test to see if the light works without flickering. If it does, leave it as it is. If it flickers, then tighten the light bulb just until the point the flickering stops.

Why To Install A Wireless Doorbell

Your doorbell is the first thing that the visitor encounters when arriving at your home. Ancient doorbells generally employ a switch or a push button. Although, the wired doorbell looks simple from outside but, it is very complicated when it comes to its internal circuitry. This involves a very inconvenient layout.

Modernization and miniaturization has made the world so upgraded that wired door bell seems so antiquated. Wireless doorbells suits to the growing and proceeding world.

Generally, wiring and making connections for the device is quite a heavy workout. And if you call an electricians for that, then he will charge you a lot of money. But, wireless door bells essentially save you from this situation. For them you don’t require long wire installation.

Either you can place a bell at the outside of your apartment or home, or you can equip all your rooms with separate doorbells. For that you need to decide the number of buttons you would require to place. Moreover, if you want different doorbells on each room of your house, you can choose different types of sounds as well.

Depending upon the number of button units, decide the number of receivers as well. Receivers enable you to hear the sound of the bell. So, if you are installing the doorbell only at the main gate of the house, better place the receiver in such a place where you can hear the sound everywhere in the house.

As the rate of burglaries are rising at a far greater pace, wireless door bells avail you with some additional features. Wireless door bells are also equipped with video features. The picture of the person ringing the bell will be displayed on the screen that is mounted inside the house. This way the homeowners will make a choice whether they want to open the door or not.

There are two types of receivers used in the wireless doorbell unit. One is the battery operated and the other is the plug- ins. For the battery operated ones ensure that they are working properly. Replace the batteries if they are discharged. Plug-in type receivers are simple. You only need to plug them in the outlet.

The best part of the device that makes it a preference over the wired doorbell is, you can change the place of the switch as well as the receiver any time you feel like. This is because, they don’t require extra wiring. Also, the installation is very simple.

Enhance The Beauty Of Your Kitchen Using Exhaust Fans

Nowadays, urban life is becoming more and more advanced. People love to live in a house that is fully furnished. In an effort to do so, they make their houses deficient of air movement. But places such as kitchens and bathrooms need proper ventilation at any cost. Smoke, stale air, odors in the kitchen makes a pleasant place for fungus, molds and other parasites to survive.

Therefore, your beautiful kitchen needs a proper source of ventilation which keeps your kitchen and home fresh and healthy. So, to do that one needs to install a good quality exhaust fan into their kitchens.

The basic principle on which the device works is very simple. It merely pushes the malodorous air out of the house as it consists of an exhaust fan. Moreover, it also includes a ducting that is long enough to take this foul air and smoke out of the kitchen and even the house.

Before you go for installing an exhaust fan at your place, consider some of the points. You may find awkward and and fell irritated to have an exhaust system that is noisy. So, before bringing the model home, make sure that it is quiet and smooth in its working. Also, look for a fan whose parts could be replaced when the fan goes out of order.

Also, proper placing of kitchen hood is very essential as the moist air released outside can harm the exterior of the house.

Another thing that is of great consideration is the size of the fan. Besides, back draft is a very dangerous phenomenon that happens rarely but should be taken care of. Your kitchen also consists of appliances that make use of wood, fuel or gas combustion for their operation. These appliances fight for the air. This leads to forcing of the impure air or gases back to your living space causing very disastrous results.

Whenever you install the exhaust system in your kitchen, take the help of an electrician. Additionally, check that your house has good air movement provisions and is not at all packed.

The installation of the exhaust fan doesn’t end up here. Instead, you need to put in a little more effort for its efficient working. Exhaust fan needs proper cleaning at least twice in a year. Reason for this is, as exhaust fan works on the principle of attracting the dirt and smoke, these get accumulated on the fan itself giving rise to pathogens and germs creating an unhygienic environment.
