Those who says that moss does not cause harm to your roof is ignorant of the fact that moss is a living thing and any living beings needs food to grow and hence they need food to eat. The same thing mosses do.

The moss can be eliminated in a very simple way. If you have some handy tools with a good moss cleaning product than you can eliminate the moss on your own.

Do not use to clean the moss from your roof with bleach or chlorine based products. These will kill moss but also damage your home. Those products are not designed to stick to pitched roofs; they clean unevenly and usually leave stains on the roof shingles or tile.

Apart from roof staining, these chlorine based products have strong chemicals with them that strongly dry out your roofing items, in turn creates cracks and makes your roofing items open to the wind damage. Such kinds of poisonous products may cause any plant, shrub and section of lawn running of the roof to die.

There are also goods which are specially designed to wipe the moss from the roofs. A product which is good will be prepared to stick to even the steepest grounded roofs while destroying only the roots of the moss. The product which is used to clean the moss must be environmentally safe. So that it will not harm your yard. The product must also be a non-staining one.

It is necessary to wipe out the moss from the root, hence always choose a good moss cleaning product which will directly hit the roots of the moss. It would be better if a garden style pump sprayer is used to remove the moss and to clean the roof.

The best method to clean the moss is to brush the moss off with the help of a medium bristle scrub brush. You have to only brush the moss when it is damped with a roof moss cleaning product. With this method the roots of the moss will easily come off.

Brushing roof moss dry or with the wrong product will only remove the “flower” of the moss and soon the moss will bloom again. After the moss has been brushed from your roof, rinse thoroughly with water, it is also a good idea, once the roof has been rinsed to apply one more coat of roof cleaner and let it stay on the roof.
