My Treasured iPhone Games

I’ve had my iPhone for over a year now, and I love the apps on the phone. There’s no better way for me to pass the time now, whether I’m riding on the train or waiting for an appointment to begin.

The games continue to improve, as updates and new versions are constantly released. Some of them are incredibly addicting. I’ve never paid money for an iPhone app, so the ones that I mention here are all free games that you’ll have no problem downloading and enjoying if you have the phone. Let’s take a look at my top three.

If you’ve never played Paper Toss, I would recommend downloading it. It’s a free game, so you have nothing to lose by trying it out. All you have to do is take a crumpled piece of paper and throw it into a garbage across the room.

The best part about this game is the enemy that stands in your way. The enemy here is an office fan that blows your paper in different directions. Since you can see its speed in advance, it becomes a challenge to accurately get the throw right.

Have you ever played that game in a bar where you have to touch the differences between pictures? If you have, you’ll probably enjoy ESPN’s game, which is just like this. It’s called Camera Man and you’ll basically be doing the same thing, only on your phone.

This game might keep me occupied more than any other. Sometimes I’ll sit down for hours at a time with this game.

3. Scramble. This game is just like Boggle, only you can play it online against over 100 people all at once. I love the idea of competing against others, which makes this game extremely addicting once you take the pride factor into consideration.

Try any of these games out. Based on their overall popularity, I have a feeling you’ll enjoy them very much.

There are totally 125 levels, split between 50 arcade levels and 5 worlds. Solve it and the world is yours! Requires good concentration and even helps increasing your concentration level overall. They also have options where you can play jus the arcade mode or the world mode or even the quick play which doesn?t have any levels but is there for a bit of quick fun.

Blowfish

When you see this game, your very first reaction will be an exclamation of how cute it is. This game has loads of cool visuals effects with a blue sea and bubbles and every time you tap on a blow fish it gets bigger and bigger and bursts when a prickly sea urchin comes by. You’ll find that there are plenty of sea urchins and unlimited levels in this game! This one is just perfect for times when you’re brain dead and don’t want any strain on it.

5 Ways Apple’s App Store is Better Than Every Other One Around

Loads are trying their hand, but no one seems to be able to push Apple out of the #1 position when it comes to serious innovation in getting applications out onto phones. Their app store and its inherent organization and closed system are just too strong, and there are an absolute ton of great developers out there too.

#5: Apple’s road map is seriously good

You’ve got some software and hardware makers who change up their plans every few months, and bombard the market with more phone models than is ever necessary. Apple didn’t do this — they just made the one phone, worked insanely hard on making it really good, and haven’t deviated from that plan so far.

#4: It’s just all about the damn developers

There are loads of great developers out there doing work for the mac, and they know all about good design. Apple’s SDKs have always been extremely high-quality, and this fosters great quality in their developers, too. Naturally, this was their approach with the iPhone, and it has seriously paid off.

#3: The iPhone’s operating system is easily the best

No rocket science here, really — if you can control your hardware well enough, and make the software, too, your quality should automatically go up, especially when your QA standards are as high as Apple’s. No huge range of phones or clones to run the software, and you avoid all those pitfalls that come with every other mobile OS out there.

#2: Apple always likes a fight

A lot of people expected the iPhone to fail — the mobile market was simply massive, they said, full of established players who wouldn’t let Apple come in and do whatever they wanted. They continued to say this after the phone was released — basically until the app store exploded. No one is saying it anymore.

#1: When your standards are high up top, it trickles down

Hey, I’m not saying every single app in the store is wonderful, or even particularly well-designed, but when you’ve got the main company and its hardware at such a high aesthetic and design level, it automatically makes you — if, say, you’re a developer — try a whole lot harder. Apple keeps its standards up and we reap the benefits.
