Word of mouth is best when deciding on a builder, but the web can be a handy alternative.
Where to find a good builder is one of the most discussed subjects among neighbours, second only to the weather,” says Andrew Skipwith, chief executive of Rated People, one of a growing number of websites that act as matchmakers between homeowners who want work done on their houses and the tradesman they need to carry it out.
I can confirm that. Just over a year ago, when we were merrily planning an extension to our home in a Hertfordshire village, everyone seemed to be at it like rabbits: loft conversions, side returns and rear extensions were appearing everywhere. And if you wanted the best bloke for the job, the place to ask was the school playground, hairdressers or village pub.
Even city friends did similar word-of-mouth networking through local residents’ associations and the like. But if you’ve just moved to a new area and don’t know anyone, word of mouth is tricky. And anyway, what if you track down the builder of your dreams only to find he’s booked up for the whole summer? The answer could lie online.
Are You Taking Good Care Of Your Pet Rabbit?
When you adopt a rabbit you have to understand how to take care of it. Rabbits are not too difficult to care for, but you will still need to get the basic information. Rabbits are tame animals, but when they are socialized they can be a great friend. You just need to handle her daily and let her dictate what she wants. She may not want to cuddle, but she probably will be happy sitting next to you which can be just as nice.
Let’s take a look at what your rabbit needs in their feed. Remember that rabbits, like people, require a fairly varied diet and that they will thrive on having some fun choices. While rabbit pellets are a good place to start, remember that your rabbit will also need roughage in the form of vegetables and hay.
Grass from the lawn may be tempting as a food option for your rabbit but it can be dangerous if it has pesticides and parasites. Your rabbit will love leafy vegetables and she can have them, but in reasonable amounts. Indulge your rabbits sweet tooth with fruits, but do not give her too much. Also, dry food should be fed in proper amounts.
What kind of housing does your rabbit need? Ideally, you’ll find that your pet rabbit should have lots of room to roam inside the cage. At the very least, the cage needs to house the litter box and the food and water bowls without cramping your rabbit.
Look into a rabbit cage that does not have a wire bottom, as this can injure your rabbit’s feet if he is on them too much. If you do end up with a wire bottom cage, simply put down some linoleum or some other structure to give him support. Make sure that your rabbit has toys in his cage as well. Cardboard boxes, old phone books and chew toys from the pet store can all let him chew to his heart’s content.
Rabbits can be deceptive. They do enjoy laying around a lot, but they still need exercise. Some people choose to let their rabbit out to freely roam while others prefer supervised free time.
If your rabbit goes outside to play then you must supervise and keep him in a safe area. You want him to get about 2 to 3 hours of exercise a day. This will ensure he is fit and stop destructive behavior.
There are many things you must keep in mind to properly care for your rabbit. The things above are a great start. You also need to think about other things. For example, coat care is required to keep it looking good. You may also need further special care if your rabbit is older.
