Picking The Perfect Plant For Your Home

Not only do plants contribute life and character to your home, but they also keep the air fresh. You can choose plants that mirror the style of your home. If you have a contemporary look or even a modern look then pick plants that go along with your style whether it’s sleek and slender or ferns to go with your Victorian style antique furnished home. But remember it’s not only the plants you select but also their containers which make them blend in with the room.

Always remember when you’re selecting plants to consider the height. The plants should contribute to the room instead of overpowering the décor. If the plants are too large they can detract from the décor. Also make sure to get diverse heights of plants for a balanced and breath-taking look.

Also pick plants that have comparable watering and sunlight requirements. It can be tricky if you have plants in the same room that have opposing requirements because most likely at least one is going to suffer. You’re most likely going to forget about watering or caring for certain plants and they will soon shrivel up. So make it stress-free on yourself and put plants with comparable needs into the same room.

Adding plants can add new dimensions to a room and construct a focal point. Tall plants can become focal points that tone down the starkness of any area like kitchens, foyers, or even hallways. Not only can they be focal points but they can also conceal problem areas. You can even change the views from your house by hanging a plant in the corner of the window, or turn a radiator into a plant stand.

Plants are not only appealing, but they’re also functional. By planting herbs in the kitchen they contribute color and life to the kitchen and they are also functional since they provide you fresh herbs for cooking and the fragrances without the Glade air freshener. Also pick plants with bright colored containers and foliage for a splendid effect in monochrome or neutral-toned décor.

Colorful plants in wide-ranging sizes and shapes can spruce up any room. Nothing looks more lifeless and uninteresting than a room with zero plants. Plants add stimulation and life to any room in the house. They are both functional and decorative. They can hide trouble areas and also provide fragrances which keep the house smelling clean and also emit CO2 which helps the interior air of the home stay clean. Just remember plants should match the style of your home and they should be in varied sizes and shapes in order to add greater dimension and serve as a focal point by enhancing the room. Inside plants are delightful and they serve many purposes, which helps your home that much more appealing.

There is a reason t-shirts have been a necessity for years and will continue to be so. It is because they are so diverse. So do yourself a favor and avoid getting stuck in the rut by using these 8 awesome tips!

Is that a blouse? Nope it’s a t-shirt: Disguise your t-shirt as a blouse. Tuck your shirt into your pants, skirt, or shorts to give it that lively blouse feel. Next layer it with some necklaces, a vest, or maybe even a blazer. Just make sure that if the sleeve show you fold or roll them up, we don?t want any loose ends you could say.

Dress down your outfit with a t-shirt: If you have some fancy pieces that you would like to wear to hang out, but don’t want to look over done, the t-shirt is for you. Pair your dressy necklace or sparkly vest or blazer with a plain shirt to tone it down and make it more casual.

If you need words, use minimalism: We understand that sometimes you simply can not pass up those slogan t-shirts, it is human nature. So ok get that typography tee, but make sure it is short and sweet, and big printed!

A solid shirt highlights accents: Use a solid neutral colored t-shirt to highlight your cool make up or wow red lip color. You can also use the solid shirt to bring a sharp focus on you colored pants without overwhelming the viewer. Solid t-shirts are also ideal for layering on the necklaces. Just remember to have fun with it.

Show you care: This is the one time you can break all the rules, because it is amazing to wear a shirt in support of something you believe in. Who cares if it has too many words or looks over produced, IT MEANS SOMETHING! If you are wearing a t-shirt that supports breast caner awareness, an MS walk, or just a belief then wear your shirt with pride.

Follow the boys lead: It is ok to take a fashion cue from the boys now and again. Now would be one of those ok times. Take a boys band tee (or just a cool shirt) and team it up with a boys blazer. Now you have a totally fabulous rock look! Don’t forget to add some heels or boots, and a clutch so that it still has a feminine feel.

Have some fun with it: There is a reason the t-shirt has been an essential part of weekend attire. The reason being it is easy, comfortable, colorful, and affordable (most of the time). So go have fun with your t-shirts, experiment with different looks and styles, just be yourself!

The Personality of a Drink Coaster

David Artstone – What kind of a person uses a drink coaster? It’s a simple question at first, and yet it speaks to the deep seated psychology of a person. It explores ideas of possession, investment, care, and detail, which can reveal some of the inner workings of the mind of the individual.

For starters, let’s examine the care aspect of the drink coaster. A coaster is a preventative tool. Its presence requires a certain amount of forethought. It also shows strategic thinking, the owner of the piece identified a potential problem, such as damage to their expensive table, and they countered this by purchasing defensive pieces.

Another aspect of drink coasters is that they show their owners care and respect for their possessions. Some people don’t care about the appearance of their homes. They buy chipped tables, scratched furnishings, and cheap inexpensive items that they then litter their homes with.

The person who buys and uses a drink coaster however, is protecting their possessions. They are treating the items in their home like an investment that they have to carefully manage and protect so that the beauty of the piece is preserved for years to come.

Finally, drink coasters speak to the detail oriented nature of the mind that employs them. Someone who uses coasters cares about the little things. They notice the small descriptive points in time and space that make up the uneven surface of reality. They notice things, little things, things that other people never bother to see.

Not only do they notice these things, they also act on them. They seek out the tiny details, and then they do something to control them. They act, by purchasing coasters, and then making them available, and even offering them to guests, when a potential disaster arises.

The next time you see a set of coasters, think about the mind of the person that purchased them. What does their presence say about who they are, and how they view the world? This of course goes way beyond the coaster, and is a way of looking at the entire world, through the objects, and the clues they leave behind.

The above piece was created on behalf of on behalf of PebbleZ.com’s line of unique stone beverage coasters. These attractive functional pieces are made from real pieces of mountain born stone including highly absorbent sandstone, and stunning, polished, multicolored marble.

Office Decor

It’s been more than a year now since you moved to your new work place and officially took over your new office. At first, you were busy coping with a new home and learning a new job, but now that you’re settled in you start noticing again the same things that you noticed when you first arrived.

The walls are a bland, neutral colour and are looking decidedly depressing. The sun streaming in through the industry-quality blinds is barely enough to light a cupboard and the furniture is just about as plain and worn as it can get. You figure that a decent amount of time has passed for you to start planning the redecoration of your office.

Naturally, before you commence it’s always a good idea to make certain that the powers that be don’t have a problem with your stylish redecorating plans. And remember that it is just an office and so you should treat your plans to redecorate as such.

Painting the walls a bright red colour probably won’t work. However, you could brighten things up a bit by repainting the walls a bright and airy colour that won’t upset anyone, least of all you. Then you could always take down those ancient blinds that have been hanging there since the early 1970′s and replace them with something more pleasing and more functional.

On the other hand, if the whole of the office is decorated in the same style with the same blinds hanging on every window, your a la mode changes might not be appreciated by your co-workers. So, think twice before doing something drastic that changes the whole style and dynamic of the entire office.

However, there are easier methods you can employ to carry out your office decorating ideas without too much trouble to you and which doesn’t necessarily need too much thought either. You could brighten up the appearance of any room by placing a couple of flowering plants here and there around your office.

However, if you’re like me and you don’t have green fingers or if you enforce suicide on any plants near you, then maybe you shouldn’t bother with plants. You could however bring in some bright pictures and hang them up on your walls. Or perhaps you have kids and they have painted some smashing pictures for you.

These also work well, and will show your colleagues a different side of you. Don’t get stressed out over anything though. You really don’t need a simple redecorating project to add to the rest of your worries and besides an office decorating project should be fun and stress free.

Remember, your office decorating project should not involve your upsetting the whole office, or yourself. It should be something that you can live with on a daily basis.

After all, you’re at your office most of the day, so it should be a place where you can be just as relaxed as you are in your own home.

Using Illumination to Fantastic Effect.

When you are considering the interior design of a house or area, lighting is most likely the most significant factor of the alterations to the interior decoration. After all, it is the aspect that generates the atmosphere of the room. You can create moods from intimacy to harsh clinicism just by the strength of your light bulb or turning a dimmer switch.

Still, if you would like to be sure that the effect of the illumination is the one you are looking for, it is essential that you be acquainted with the four principal kinds of lighting.

Ambient illumination: This is the general lighting for the entire room. In nearly all rooms it is the standard light in the centre of the ceiling be it a fluorescent tube or an incandescent bulb. It is suggested that you use one or more dimmers in order to gain more flexibility in creating special effects for each occasion.

Local lights: These lights are used to complement or even temporarily replace the ambient lighting. Local lights are most commonly standard lamps, table and wall lights and are normally used in order to aid such activities as reading, cooking, and shaving. The concentration of the light is local and it has to be properly worked out so it won?t put a strain on the eyes.

Accent lights Accent lights are sources of light for showing off ornamental items, usually placed so as to draw attention to an objet d?art . Quite literally to show it in its best light.

Natural light: This is the one we get free though skylights, windows and doors. This light is controllable for part of the day by shades, curtains, drapes, blinds or awnings, but clearly varies with the time of the day, the season and the weather. Some locations see huge variations in natural light according to the season, eg monsoon, snow, etc.

It is doubtless easiest, if you consider a house room by room. Commence by analyzing what the room is used for. Retirees will probably want to take advantage of the daytime natural light for hobbies and reading, while a working couple with school-age kids, will be more active in the evening, when additional illumination might be more essential. Write down what you do and where you do it. Do you have a favourite fireside chair for reading the paper, do you read the paper during daylight hours or after work? Be courageous in your selection of illumination, but also bear in mind that illumination can have a strong influence on our perception of dimensions, making a room look larger or smaller than it is in reality.

There are numerous ways to illuminate a room but they all come from one of two perspectives: the lighting is either practical or aesthetic. Yes, they are both used to enable you to see more easily, but highlighting the pages of a book or a shaving mirror is not quite the same as using a low light to highlight a statue of the Madonna in an alcove.

In a brief summary, you could use the few lines below to give you starting ideas when you are thinking about changing a room?s lighting:

i] Place a standard lamp behind armchairs: they should be between three and five feet high. ii] Use an accent light to high or even low light a canvas. iii] Use an accent light to underline the contours of bookshelves. iv] The ambient light ought to be modifiable. v] Use local illumination to swathe the walls with a low light or glow (can be recessed into the floor).
