Having Knowledge Of The Output Of Your Bulbs Verses The Power Usage Can Save Quite A Bit Of Money Over The Years.
When reviewing your table lamps lighting effectiveness There are many elements one should keep in mind. Of course you likely know about the positioning of your lighting approximately every 10 or so feet. Then walking the area to check for dead spots and shadows. Also you likely know to sit in all of the chairs of the room and look toward the light to make absolutely sure that it does not throw back any glare into your eyes. Glare like that can simply ruin a good conversation with friends and family.
But are you acquainted with the process of how to choose the best light bulb for the particular lamp and the space in which you are attempting to provide proper lighting? One of the 1st things you really need to keep under consideration is the Lumens per Watt Ratio output by the bulb your planning on using.
To begin a short understanding of the terms used to describe these features is necessary. Lumens are the standard measurement of the brightness or light output by the entire bulb including the filament. Wattage is not then (contrary to popular urban legend or opinion) the measurement of the output of the bulb but instead the measurement of its electrical usage. It is the disparity between the two that you are after.
Firstly then simply go on line and look up Lumen lighting characteristics for rooms in the home or some such other keyword phrases. You should come up with big list that will break it down for you which covers the lumen output needed to cover say 80 to 120 square feet and produce your particular lighting effect. Each effect you might be wanting to pull off can usually be accomplished with three factors. 1)The lumens per square feet. 2) The color and opacity of your table lamps lighting shade and 3) The positioning of your lamps throughout the area.
Next find the lowest watt usage bulb in its category that is shown to deliver the desired total lumens output that you have determined is needed to produce the desired effect in the coverage area. Then divide the two figures like this: Divide the total lumens output by that bulb by the total watts consumed I.E. a 60 watt bulb means the stated total is 60 watts used and you arrive at the Lumens Per Watt ratio or the efficiency of the bulb you intend to use.
By comparing your new found Lumens Per Watt ratio on a bulb by bulb basis you now know if you have the most efficient use of total watts and thereby total dollars to create the exact mood and lighting experience that your table lamps lighting pieces can provide in your designated area. Remember once you have everything positioned just the way you think is should be, go around and sit at each chair, sofa or love seat ect.. just to be sure you watch for glare and other potential problems before they literally hit your guests right between the eyes.
With The Correct Furniture And Lighting You Can Make Any Room Look Like A Million Bucks
In the USA one of the rooms people like to make a statement in is their bedroom. I am talking about the furnishings and lighting arrangement just so you can stay on track. As a prime example; if you use the right Table lamps lighting technique on your bedroom furniture dressers you can fully accent all of the pieces of the entire bedroom in one fell swoop.
The tactic here is to understand the position of the largest piece in the room and for virtually everyone that piece will be their Bedroom Furniture Beds. This is the one single piece that has the ability to blot out the most amount of lighting and thereby cause the greatest dead spot areas and shadow sections. It is rather easy to get rid of this little annoyance if you simply employ the right tactic. Or you can forever stand there moving a lamp six inches this way or twelve inches that way never getting rid of all those shadowy dead spots and just generally getting frustrated.
The tactic for getting rid of them is very easy and simple. You employ a tactic called crossover lighting. Don’t worry, it’s not at all techie and can be done in just a couple of minutes flat. The perfect example is that most people line up there main bedroom furniture dressers right in front of the end of their bed, which makes this super easy. You place a table lamp or floor lamp whichever you happen to prefer at the farthest outside spaces of the dresser that is lined up with the bed. Or if you are using floor lamps you put them at both ends of the dresser. The trick is that you want them to extend out past the sides of the foot board on your bed.
Next, you if you’re like most people myself included you will usually have two nightstands one each on opposite sides of the head board end of your bed. You then very simply place a lamp on each of your nightstands. Sounds too easy right? But think about it, you now have diffused light sources on both sides of the bed one source directed from the foot board and another light source directed from the head board region. each of those light sources on each end now cross over each other and you have just learned they interior designer secret of eliminating dead spots with crossover lighting. Wait until you see the results. You will be able to wale all around the bed and the room and should not see any big shadows anywhere at all.
You may find however that if you have a very high tall boy style additional dresser in the room that one side of it may not be perfectly lit. This can be resolved with the positioning of another floor lamp or believe it or not a plug in nightlight style tiny lamp. If you happen to have a wall socket on that side then put a small plug in lamp there and you should be good to go. Be sure that when you’re considering any lighting arrangement that all of your lighting fixtures are UL rated at the highest level for your safety.
The Lamps On Your Table Can Literally Make The Mood In Any Room If You Know How!
The table lamps lighting effect on a roomroom and space can be ratherreally dramatic. I am sure you have seen rooms that were dimly lit to the point where you would certainly find it uncomfortable to have to read the newspaper. And then of course on the other hand you have seen rooms where it would be far too bright to watch a projection movie on your home theater system. And finally you likely have been in rooms where the sun coming through a window made it nearly imposable to watch TV with its rays right on the screen.
These are all just effects lighting can have on our experience in a single room. Well, your table lamps lighting arrangement can have serious effects on how well you can see in your space, how well you can read, how well you can watch TV and especially theater and of course it can cast shadows and create or enlarge dead lighting spots. A dead lighting spot is simply where it appears that even though your room seems brightly lit it has a spot where virtually no light gets to. This is called a dead spot in the lighting industry.
You need to understand correct positioning to take advantage of both the special characteristics of your room and all the objects in it, not just the furniture. I saw a friend of mine pay good money to a interior designer. Only to have one of his main pieces in the room a very large and expensive painting that was also as luck would have it quite deep in the frame department have a huge shadow cast by it because the interior designer knew very little about proper lighting as it would turn out.
The main method is t start out with your lamps about 10 feet apart in each and every direction. Then start walking around in that room or space looking for potential problems and or issues. Look for big shadows being cast or dead spots being created as you learned about up above. then look at the problem you have found analyze it using a very small lamp that you can easily maneuver into places to see how to eliminate those shadows or dead spots. Once you have it then figured out then simply adjust your table lamps lighting arrangement until it then is in the same position that your small portable lamp was in.
We all know that our mood can be dramatically affected by light. Or else why would it be that everyone is always more happy and in a better mood when the sun is shining? Also experiment with several of these new natural light bulbs that give off full spectrum light. They too can help make the difference between a room of zoom and a room of gloom.
