How Good Really Is Kombucha Tea?
A lot of Hollywood stars such as Reese Witherspoon have enjoyed the benefits of this wonderful beverage. Popular supermarkets fill a single shelf with these products to accommodate all the customers who wants to buy this. But what really is kombucha tea, where did it come from, and why is there such a high demand for it? Do we really benefit from drinking this drink as what zealots claim?
Kombucha tea is derived from the fermentation of green and black tea which has of culture of what makes kombucha mushroom. After the fermentation process, the sac that is formed has the same color and shape of a mushroom which is where the name is derived. Some of the microorganisms in kombucha mushroom include Torula species, Bacterium katogenum, Bacterium xylinoides, Bacterium gluconicum, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, Bacterium xylinum, Brettanomyces bruxellensis, Saccharomycodes ludwigii, Pichia fermentans and many more. The time in brewing as well as the yeast and sugar determines the final product but after fermentation, the solution will usually become acidic having 0.5-1.5% alcohol content.
Although kombucha tea has just been in the market for a few years, some have suggested that kombucha tea has been enjoyed and marvelled at from as far back as the Qin Dynasty (although there are no written records to support this claim). In the book “Kombucha, The Miracle Fungus”, the author of the book named Harald W. Tietze claimed that Chinese living during the Qin Dynasty believe that drinking “Godly Tea or Tsche” will give them the power to become immortals.
Therefore, if above claim is to be believed, then the kombucha mushroom tea may just have the potential to earn the moniker “elixir of life”. Many of the people who promote this products all say that this product is good for the body and can even cure illnesses such as fatigue syndrome, baldness, athrities, isomnia and even intestinal problems. It also contains glucaric acid, which is said to be a cancer-preventive agent. By drinking this tea, they say you will cure HIV.
Does that sound too hard to believe? Not quite. However, there is no scientific evidence that indeed it has amazing properties as what the endorsers of this product say. Instead, there have a lot of infections and deaths that put their blame on the practice of drinking kombucha tea. A lot of contamination can happen and can be a danger to one’s health if brewing is actually done at home. When you drink a lot of products that are not prepared properly, you can get yourself sick and can even result in your death.

The center of the mattress is incredibly solid and the mattress is so dense the effects of everyday tear and wear are minimal. When the center of the latex foam mattress is made it is made with a number of apertures in it.
These are known as pincore holes and their use is to enable the latex to be a little more pliable so that it enables a greater degree of comfort. The number of holes and also the size of the holes are directly proportional to the degree of comfort provided by the mattress so most companies focus on making the pincore holes as large as possible. In order to achieve homogeneity in the amount of comfort offered over the length and breadth of the mattress the pincore holes over the mattress are all maintained at the similar size.
For those who want the bed to provide a softer feel than that provided by the mattresses there exists the option of layering the latex mattress along with many other materials. Some people opt for a latex mattress along with a memory foam mattress for firm yet comfortable sleep.
When compared to the memory foam mattresses the benefit provided by the mattresses is the latter is firmer and also gives a greater degree of support to the body. Star Wars Movies and LEGO Systems
Thus far there have been 7 movies released based on the Star Wars storyline. LucasFilms has done a tremendous job marketing these films and creating products based on these movies. One of the more popular products for the Star Wars movies is LEGO sets. The LEGO Group signed on with LucasFilms in 1999 to recreate scenes from each movie and the response from fans has proven to be very positive.
The first movie released for the prequels trilogy, the Phantom Menace. The LEGO Group released several LEGO systems based on this film including the only Star Wars LEGO Set that is built for toddlers, the Podracer Bucket. This set, like its name suggests, is sold in a bucket and is toddler friendly.
Attack of the Clones, not to be confused with the Clone Wars, was the second film released as a follow up to the original Star Wars series. The Attack of the Clones LEGO Sets include some of the more desirable Star Wars LEGO mini figures, like the Tusken Raiders, which are unique to this series, Count Dooku, Yoda, and the ever popular and hard to find Jango Fett.
The Revenge of the Sith was the third movie released after the original movies. Episode III was released in 2005. The Revenge of the Sith series of LEGO sets includes one of the more imaginative LEGO sets in the Darth Vader Transformation. This set includes an Anakin Walker mini figure and a Darth Vader mini figure and depicts Anakin’s transformation to Darth Vader.
Episode IV: A New Hope is the very first movie released by Lucasfilms way back in 1977. The LEGO Group didn’t released the first Episode IV LEGO set until 1999! This is because it took that long for the two of them to come together and form a partnership.
The Empire Strikes Back was the second film released of the original movies. This film was originally released in 1980. Episode V LEGO sets include some highly prized Star Wars LEGO mini figures including Boba Fett, a Han Solo in carbonite, and Emperor Palpatine. A great LEGO set to own from this series of LEGO sets is the Cloud City 10123.
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi is the final film released of the original series. This film was originally released in 1983. The LEGO sets included in Episode VI include some of the Star Wars LEGO Sets most prized systems including the Jabba the Hut series of sets. The Death Star LEGO Set is a great example of a well thought out, well crafted LEGO System.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released in 2008 and was based on the animated mini series of the same name. The LEGO sets released for this system include a great set called the Pirate Tank. This set is very much unique to all other Star Wars LEGO Sets as it doesn’t really have anything to do with either the Republic or the Seperatists. The Pirate pillage the galaxy with no preference.
How Serious Is Your Acid Reflux Disease Symptom?
Anybody at any age can get acid reflux disease symptoms. There are some people, however, that won’t be able to notice these symptoms until these become very severe. If you think you have the condition, take note that symptoms vary from mild to severe. When your body experiences an acid reflux disease symptom, you may not be aware of it until you take some tests. Let’s talk about the varying degrees of symptoms and diagnosis of acid reflux disease.
Common Symptoms
Heartburn is one of the most common symptom of acid reflux. Heartburn is characterized by a burning sensation in the middle area of the chest behind the breastbone. Sufferers may experience some pain or discomfort as the sensation travels from the upper abdomen to the neck. This experience often worsens after eating or when lying down/bending over. Although heartburn is a common symptom of acid reflux, not all sufferers of this condition have it.
Signs Of Progression
When the condition progresses heartburn may become more persistent and the pain or discomfort associated with heartburn may last up to 2 hours. Bitter acid may travel into the throat while you are sleeping and you may occasionally have a bitter taste in the mouth. You may then wake up with a very hoarse voice and experience persistent dry cough. Furthermore, you may start to wheeze or feel a certain tightness in your throat as though something is stuck inside. In children, symptoms include persistent cough and repeated vomiting.
Complications
Oftentimes you will only realize how serious acid reflux disease has gotten after screening and diagnosis. This is especially true in the case of reflux esophagitis, where the inner lining of the esophagus is severely damaged. Ulcers and scarring may develop, making it hard to swallow food and/or liquids. People who have reflux esophagitis have a somewhat increased risk of cancer of the esophagus.
If acid reflux disease is left untreated, complications can occur overtime. You may develop severe inflammation in the esophagus and stricture (severe narrowing of the esophagus). Problems may even reach the teeth and air passageways of the lungs. In other cases, underlying muscular abnormalities may develop and symptoms may persist even after treatment. Older individuals are more susceptible to these complications, especially if they’ve had acid reflux disease before.
Here are some complications that may occur due to acid reflux disease:
- Dental problems – Chronic throat problems – Stricture – Erosive esophagitis – Barrett’s Esophagus – Respiratory Disorders (Asthma) – Sleep apnea
Symptoms may be chronic or may be temporary. It may last for weeks, months or even years and may come back after treatment. Because the duration of symptoms varies greatly, we can never be too sure if we have a mild or severe case of acid reflux. The only way to be certain is to have a diagnosis. Tests often involve esophagoscopy, barium swallow, cardiac evaluation, esophageal manometry, and esophageal pH monitoring.
If your condition is diagnosed to be severe, it may take more than one of the tests mentioned above. Before symptoms worsen, see your doctor to have a diagnosis even if your symptoms are mild.
