Chime clocks are not, by far, the latest type of invention-though there are newer clocks classified as chime clocks which have recently been designed. The chime clock is a classic and provides a relaxing musical addition to your house or office. I have searched out some different types of chime clocks and below are a few styles that I have found:

There are mantel chime clocks which could be used as a mantelpiece, atop a shelf, on a small or on a decorative table. Chime clocks are generally made of stained pine wood and, if they are well-maintained, will be with you for long after purchasing.

Some chime clocks are the larger type, such as floor chime clocks to be set on the floor. They normally stand about six feet and a few have pendulums. There are newer designs developing for these floor clocks where the pendulum is not just a hanging ball, but perhaps shaped like an arrowhead or a swirl. I have even seen some mantel chime clocks which had a straight pendulum in it. Nothing at the end--just a straight, heavy, metal clinging piece.

Other larger, floor chime clocks do not have pendulums, some of these chime clocks need a certain amount of winding which functions sort of like window blinds. With these chime clocks, you pull the chain so that the clinging pieces (that hang but they are not pendulums) end up at the top of the clock--directly under the timepiece. The chains are lowered gradually as the clock maintains the time and last for about twelve hours before they need winding again. Some come with small pendulums that get behind the chains--but many of them do not.

Most all chime clocks cannot be obtained in regular stores, but ought to be searched for at specialty clock shops.

Many chime clocks are wall pieces ranging widely in configuration. The wood is stained at times--but chime clocks can come painted, also. There are different colors and patterns--some would go perfect in the kitchen, some in the bedroom or living room, a few in the study and chime clocks can also add a classy and somewhat elegant look to your workplace.

Most chime clocks, however, are made from stained wood, some arching at the top, others flat on both top and bottom with a subtle design on the sides. A few are long and slender, while some are shorter and broad--there are many variations. No matter what you do and what your tastes are, you should be able to find a chime clock would compliment your house or workplace.
