I’ve just had survey back on house I’ve made an offer on and a number of issues have come up with roof, damp etc. I’m trying to get an idea of rough costs for fixing these things to make a revised offer. Been able to get an idea of roof costs etc but can anybody help to give me an idea about external joinery and guttering costs? The house is Victorian terrace and windows have been replaced with PVC double glazing. This hasn’t been done very well and there wet rot under a couple of the windows. All the windows ( 2 bays, 5 standard size) need ‘making good’ to stop water getting in. Parts of the guttering also need replacing (unfortunately survey doesn’t specify exactly which parts).

Can anybody help give me a rough idea of what kind of cost this might involve? Am just trying to get a very general sense of overall costs in order to renegotiate agreed sale price, appreciate it’s impossible to get accurate quote without seeing the work that needs doing.

Had guys round doing a sales pitch from what looks to be like a well established company. I live in a detached house which I moved into last year. Just dug out the survey and the surveyor noted that there were signs of deterioration and that there was a small area of rot/damage to the rear elevation fascia board.

He gave me a quote of £890 for all the work – this includes free downpipes and all done in PVC.

Is this a good quote? Not sure of the exact dimensions of the hosue but probably about 25ft long x 20ft wide with gable points.

Might be interested if it’s a good quote and it’ll mean less maintenance etc in future.. Don’t want to get ripped off though!

I’ve had one quote so far and its has been about 3 times what i expected.

Your suggestions and experiances please – and dont say get more quotes because i will – but i need to know if i am about to be reamed or not
